I have decided that photographing a newborn child is ALMOST the best part of being a photographer. The most amazing part is watching a "new" mother bond with her "new" child. A photographic session with an infant usually takes place shortly after the child is JUST a week old. The love a mother has for her child begins as she waits that LONG 9 months for the child to mature in her womb. All that love just continues to grow as the child does. The anticipation of holding that child is bottled up as the mother can only imagine holding the baby that is JUST out of reach. Anticipation pours out LOVE upon that newborn when it breathes its first breath. It is an honor to watch these moments; a mother cherish, bond with and comfort a child in the first few days of its life. Most mothers do not feel photogenic a week after giving birth. I am so blessed to have been able to capture the beauty of Christina and her son, her first child. The image of Christina coddling her new baby is so iconic to me. We don't always feel that we look our best, but true LOVE does not depend on how we look. Our children cannot survive without true love and they are nurtured by it no matter how we "look."
JR was so nervous during his debut photo session, but his "mommy" stopped at nothing to comfort him every step of the way. Oh, he is such a precious little picky man, only wanting to sleep a certain way even at just a week old. Oh he made our job very tricky, but we managed to trick him right back and successfully photographed quite a few poses. Thank you Christina. A standing ovation for MOMS!
